Smart Wallpapers for High Productivity

Several years ago I had an idea about creating wallpapers to organize your desktop(s) to increase productivity. By separating off sections with lines and headings, you can easily make great use of the same visual cues that you see on a website and in many applications. I’ve found that this is great for anyone who likes to use their desktop as a “dropbox” for everything that comes their way. It’s the easiest directory to access on a PC (not to mention the most default), so it makes sense that this might become an issue.

The essential part is keeping it in all in place. On any weekday, I’ll generate a dozen or more new files on my desktop. Re-organizing them once a week is just a pain in the ass, but if you’re smart, you’ll try this system out and see the time savings for yourself. Click here to check out how I set up my own desktop.

Also, I’d like to mention that keeping files on your desktop is DANGEROUS. If you have to re-install windows, you’ll wipe all desktop files out. If you’re on a mac, don’t stress it, your whole life has been built for you already, you shouldn’t stress. Stay tuned for my article on protecting yourself to read more about keeping your files safe.

Create Shortcuts to folders on your C:\ drive or an external drive. You’ll find that it will greatly reduce recovery times if your PC ever has a hiccup.

You can download any productivity desktop wallpaper from the list below. Choose your size and set-up, and if you have some Photoshop skills, I’ve also included the PSD file for some fun. Stay organized and be productive. Enjoy.

I couldn’t find the link for it. Has it been removed? I love the background, but I’ve had it up for so long that I’d like to be able to manipulate the colors to suite the season or mood.

My attempts to change the hue have failed as Photoshop changes the hue.. the text begins to fade away when manipulated for some strange reason.
