I assembled this collection of unique, rarely-seen advertisements from Tsarist and early Soviet Russia to present a glimpse into a surreal and troubled era of consumer culture.
Despite the fact that you couldn’t find these goods in stores and quality of product was questionable, the opulent sophistication and use of Art Nouveau elements are truly representative of pre-revolutionary and early communist Russia. I have added brief descriptions of the products being advertised so you could see the novel design elements and use of typography.
